| A large number of artists
were born in this magical city or chose it as their place of residence
and inspired others to recreate its charm in their works. The Seville
of today continues to have a special attachment with culture. Its
art galleries exhibit a wide variety of paintings, photographs, sculptures
and other works by artists who follow a broad range of artistic trends.
Seville also has many theatres and venues which stage a varied programme
of music, dance and other live performances all year round. These
include the Maestranza theatre, the Central theatre, and the Lope
de Vega theatre. Especially outstanding in the cultural calendar are
the opera and classical music seasons offered by the Maestranza theatre
and the Evenings in the Gardens of the Real Alcazar, a series of summer
concerts which are staged in the incomparable setting of Seville's
fortified palace. Neither must we forget of course flamenco, with
the Bienal perhaps being one of its key events. |
