| This major museum, housed
in the Palau Nacional on Montjuic, showcases the great jewels of Catalan
art spanning the 19th century to the 1940s. It currently exhibits
the permanent collections of Romanesque art -considered the finest
in the world, particularly with regard to its mural paintings-, Gothic
art and the Cambo Collection, From December onwards, following a major
refit, other collections of great prestige will be brought to the
MNAC's galleries: the Thyssen-Bornemisza (which until now was on show
at the Museu-Monestir de Pedralbes), the Renaissance and baroque holdings,
and the collections from the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as the
collections of coins, engravings and photographs. The General History
of Art Library will also be housed on the museum premises as a result
of the extension. Palau Nacional Parc de Montjuic 08038 Barcelona
