Contemporary architects like Bar Boo, Albalat or Baltar, introduced
a new mentality to the younger generations, where Cesar Portela,
Manuel Gallego or lago Seara belonged. They are characterized by
rationalization and re-creation of traditional theories, seeking
functionality and sculptural aesthetics in their buildings within
the minimalism of our time. This process does not stop with plastic
creation - the sculpture of Asorey, the surrealist painting of the
Atlantic by Urbano Lugris; Laxeiro painted the "Trasmundo ",
a work with spirit, as Colmeiro or Torres were inspired by the suggestive
world of folk traditions. All creative process is inter-related
at present in Galicia - the architecture and literature have come
to a surprising moment. The existence of works by architects like
Siza (responsible for the CGAC and the new Journalism Faculty, both
buildings in Santiago de Compostela), Isozaki, Foster, and sculptors
like Chillida and Ibarrola, are proof of this enthusiasm open to
all innovation.
