Andalusian architecture
may be admired in the Church of La Concepcion or the large Church
of San Pedro, which has a beautiful tower and opens onto some of the
most pleasant areas of the city, such as the Boulevard of Palm eras
de Santa Fe. The Cathedral of La Merced, dating from the 18-th century,
is modest in size but harmonious in style. Next to it is the restored
hospital which is today the main site of the recently created University
of Huelva. The heart of the city is the charming and shady Las Monjas
Square and the fine viewpoint the peaceful Conquero, from which we
look down onto the new, colourful BuUring and the Odiel Marshlands
and which takes us to the SanCtuary of the patron saint Virgen de
la Cinta, a white construction built inthe Mudejar style.
