Mijas is a small town on the Costa del Sol situated to the east with the municipalities of Fuengirola and Benalmadena and to the west with Marbella. It is easily accessible by road, so we recommend to book car rental Malaga airport services.

The municipality itself is divided into the two areas: Mijas Pueblo (typical Andalusian mountain village with white houses and a spectacular view over the Mediterranean) and Mijas Costa, which is a nice coastal resort with some of the best golf courses and sports facilities of the Costa del Sol. Part of Mijas, Las Lagunas, is situated next to the town of Fuengirola. Between the two municipalities is located the Mijas Water Park.

The Mijas coastline has a total of six semi-urban beaches. Butibamba Beach, also known as La Cala, features over the weekend a lively nightlife and is also the stage for various musical events in summer.

Mijas features furthermore the Costa del Sol Racecourse, located in the Urbanización El Chaparral, just 30 km from the airport.

However, Mijas Pueblo is a charming andalusian village, where visitors can find the traditional whitewashed houses, cobbled streets and a quaint, calm ambience. The local attraction of Mijas Pueblo are the donkey taxis, carrying tourists through the narrow, sloped alleys, and the outlooks, which provide magnificent views over Fuengirola and the Costa del Sol. Although today the town has become quite touristy, it yet breathes an atmosphere entirely different from the crowded coastal cities.

Mijas is well connected with Malaga airport, Malaga and Marbella via the Mediterranean motorway AP-7.
