costa del sol

The Costa del Sol (Coast of the Sun) in the south of Malaga province (and partly Cadiz) is a very popular tourist region which welcomes every year millions of people.

The area stretches from Gibraltar in the west to Nerja in the east. The most renowned coastal resorts of the Costa del Sol are Malaga, Marbella, Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola and Mijas, which mostly stand out due to their fine beaches, the active nightlife, the local Andalusian gastronomy, the manifold leisure possibilities as well as the big selection of hotels.

The Costa del Sol boasts the largest number of beaches in Andalusia and has therefore a great choice of hotels and leisure, in both beach and rural areas, a considerable number of golf courses, zoos and amusement parks and marinas.

Another important reason for its success is the climate: usually 300 sunny days per year, high temperatures in summer, and moderate temperatures in winter and only few overall precipitations make the Costa del Sol one of Europe’s top holiday destinations.

La Costa del Sol is also known as the Costa del Golf, boasting the highest concentration of golf courses in Andalusia and the European continent.

Tourists visiting the Costa del Sol arrive at Malaga airport, which provides good public transport to the respective localities along the coast, as well as car hire at Malaga airport.
