Costa del Sol information:
PIZARRA |
Pizarra General Information
It has several neighbourhoods. Zalea is 5 km away. It is the gateway
to Sierra de las Nieves (snow mmountain). The village was built between
1,965 and 1,968; some houses and large gardens make it up. The town's
patron saint is San Isidro Labrador. In is honour they celebrate the
town bank holiday, on May 15th, with a procession and a 3-day festival,
finishing wwith the pilgrimage to creek Arroyo de Casarabonela.
You can walk though the broad streets and visit the ostrich farm,
where you can buy decorated ostrich eggs, and ride a horse. As for
gastronomy, the most characteristic are the traditional sausages (embutidos)
and the bakery's hand made bread. Among other traditional celebrations,
we should mention the procession of the Pollinica on Easter Sunday.
Another neighbourhood is Cerralba, close to the main road towards
Malaga. Near Campillos, 3 km away from Pizarra, we find a beautiful
neighbourhood, built at the end of the 70s. We can visit the church
Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Rosa, and admire the houses
and their little front gardens when we walk down the streets.
