| In the province of Malaga, right in the heart of
Andalucía, where Granada, Seville and Cordoba meet through
excellent connections, we can take a break to discover the wonders
of villages like Archidona, Cuevas Bajas, Cue vas de San Marcos, Villanueva
de Algaidas, Villanueva del Rosario, Villanueva de Tapia and Villanueva
del Trabuco, in the North - East area of the Province. Their rich patrimonial, historic and artistic heritage will take us from the pre-historic caves where the first human settings were found - Belda Cave - , to the last mosque in the Province - Virgin of Grace Hermitage - ; we will walk through monumental, historical towns such as Archidona, and we will be able to enjoy the view of first-rate contemporary art, by artists like Berrocal. Local celebrations and festivities such as the Holy Week and the Dog Fair, officially appointed National Tourist Attractions, are of especial note within southern Folklore. The famous August Carnivals are an excellent opportunity to share the joy and kindness of the local people. From the source of the river Guadalhorce, and on the surrounding mountains (Gorda, Jibalto and San Jorge), we can enjoy nature life through the contemplation of local fauna and flora, bird watching, etc. We can also practise nature-friendly sports like trekking, through the impressive GR -7 E-4 route. The delicious taste of the varied traditional gastronomy can be enjoyed in Nororma , where oil produced from the olive trees of the fertile local soil, stands out among a wide range of products. Even the most demanding visitor will be delighted at the ever - changing landscapes of interior Malaga, a new, different experience. |
