Coin a unique walk around a landscape of contrasts
From the Mediterranean mountain vegetation to the valleys through
the arid land and countryside, COin is a variety of landscapes. In
the spring the village air is filled with the sweet scent of blossoming
oranga and lemon trees, giving the village its nickname "Valle
del Azahar". (Orange blossom Vatley). On the highest hiHs, but
still very accessible, you can find cork oaks, halm oaks, carobs and
pines as well as aromatic plants. Corn is considered as "Complejo
Serrano de Interes Ambiental". (Mountain Complex of Environmental
Interest). The fauna is distinctive and plentiful.
If visitors decide to visit these places there are two routes available:
The first is "Majada de la Corcha" which goes along the
Sierra Negra; and the second is "Cerro Alaminos". You can
enjoy plenty of trips around the valley, "La Fuente", "rajo
Rayo", "La Albuqueria" and "Pereila Alta".
All these beautiful places form a contrast between mountain and valley.
A varied wildlife can be found in all these places: the pilgrim hawk,
the goshawk, eagles, ichneumon and wild cats. In the mountain ran.
ge you can see the river "Pereila" which flows by our Virgin
de Fuensanta Hermitage. In the lower hills, esparto, rosemary, thyme,
broom and
almuradux are the most prolific.
Where it is possible to grow there are olive and almond trees and
in the hills cereal crops. We suggest a trip to "Sierra Gorda"
were visitors can enjoy the view. White Andalusian houses surrounded
by orchards and gardens typify Coin. Visitors can spend a few days
in peace and tranquillity. The origin of Coin lie in the richness
of its waters. The provinces most extensive source of fountains and
springs, including the "Nacimiento" can be found in the
mountains "Blanca and Mijas" above the town. The rivers
such as the "Grande" provide much enjoyment to Coin visitors.
