Coin's Calendar Easter.
Semana Santa is a time to remember our most important saints. Processions
are held and the town is filled with a feeling of passion.
The Running race around Coin. This is Coin's main sporting
event having been held every year for thirty years. Spring
Feast. It takes place during the first week of May. It is
a homage to people's work and the fertility of their land. On the
third of May our villages are dressed with flowers in the comers and
squares. they make crosses with flowers and it is called "May's
Crosses". Pilgrimage to Our Virgin de la Fuensanta Hermitage.
It is from the first week of May until the first Sunday of June when
all the pilgrims leave Coin on Saturday to spend the night at the
Hermitage. It is a time for singing, dancing and fun. On Sunday they
move our Virgin de la Fuensanta back to Coin, and the pilgrimage is
finished. August Fair. It takes part from
the 10th to the 15th of August. It has its origins in the 18th C.
International Festival of Folklore. It is a
mixture of cultures, races styles and colours in a festival of dancing
and singing. New year's Eve. A very special
night in Coin. We celebrate the feast of St. Silvestre. The streets
become a walkway of fancy dress where imagination, style and madness
combine in this happy and unique "fiesta". |
