General information
Declared from 1980 artistic historical, it conserves a rich bequeathed
patrimony of the past. It emphasizes tha castle and its walls, the
hermitage of the Virgin of Grace, Church of S. Ana among others.
The supervisory celebrations are celebrated in honour of the Virgen
de Gracia, and the Church of Santa Ana, among others. The local holidats
are celebrated in honour to La Virgen de Gracia, the patron saint.
They begin in the dawn of August 14th with a pilgrimage to the sanctuary
of the Virgin, led by a multitude of people who come from very different
places.
The Archidona chimes of bells are a traditional at various times of
the day, until August 18th, when they finish. Also, we should mention
Archidona's traditional Holy Week. It is the largest and more famous
religious celebration in the locality.
Archidona's Salinas (salt mines) or Las Lagunas (lagoons) are located
in the North West of Malaga province, inside Archidona's municipality,
and in the South West of Estacion de Salinas.
Las Lagunas are between 780 and 800 meters high above the sea level.
The Andalusian Government declared the "Nature Reserve".
The Nature Reserve "Lagunas de Archidona" is a humid zone,
full of saline water, rich in sulfates, with an enormous ecological
value. From here we can see the Mountain Sierra de Gibalto, located
in the province of Granada, the Mountains San Jorge and Gorda, in
the municipality of Villanueva del Trabuco. There are also numerous
bird species, which are currently legally protected. The set consists
of two lagoons, called "Laguna Grande" (big lagoon) and
"Laguna Chica", in the South. |
