Cadiz Information: THE
BAY AND THE COAST |

Cadiz is located on a well populated bay which boasts a collection
of attractive towns, each with its own particular character, such
as El Puerto de Santa Maria at the mouth of the Guadalete, with beautiful
beaches, the Castle of San Marcos in the town centre, the most famous
Bullring in the district and numerous monuments, of which the most
notable is the Main Priory Church.

San Fernando, closely linked to the history of the Spanish Navy, with
Baroque churches, is located in the vicinity of saltmarshes and swamps.

There are also Puerto Real and Chiclana, the latter with its impressive
Neoclassical Parish Church of San Juan Bautista.
Further west, towards the mouth of the Guadalquivir, first we see
Rota and Chipiona, both with excellent beaches, and then comes Sanlucar
de Barrameda, opposite the Doñana Nature Reserve.

This is a town which is famous for many reasons, from its wine called
manzanilla to its prawns, its summer horse races over the extensive
sandy beaches and a wealth of fine buildings, from the Castle of Santiago
to Mudejar churches, such as the Church of La O, and not forgetting
palaces such as the Ducal Palace of Medina Sidonia.
