This museum was founded in 1874 and preceded by the Gabinet d'Histbria
Natural founded in 1817. Its holdings comprise some of the most important
palaeontological specimens of vertebrates, and these are on display
in the main hall where you will also find the collections of rocks,
minerals and plant and animal fossils from the Primary to Quaternary
periods. In 1999, the Cardenal Caries Room opened. It houses a permanent
exhibition of enormous interest to groups of schoolchildren, which
uses the slogan "Know Your Land" to develop a keen educational
interest in matters concerning the natural sciences.
