The building of the Pia Almoina, in the Roman wall of the city adjacent
to the Cathedral, houses this museum which has undergone an exemplary
interior refurbishment. It showcases a noteworthy collection of sacred
art, comprising works spanning the Middle Ages to the 20th century,
including painting, sculpture, silverware and goldware, clothing,
ceramics and coins. Two of the key exhibits in the collection are
the reredos by Bernat Martorell depicting Saint John the Baptist,
and the silver monstrance of the Church of Santa Maria del Pi. The
holdings of the Museu Diocesa mainly come from the bishopric of Barcelona.
