Barcelona CARRIAGE Museum |
The Vall d'Hebron Park, in the north of the city, contains a thematic
museum of extraordinary interest. This is a private collection comprising
46 exhibits including wagons and everyday and luxury barouches which,
together with some 600 accessories, adornments and clothing used by
carters and coachmen, give us an insight into a means of transport
which is part of our history. The company Fomento de Construcciones
and Contratas, SA owns the collection which has been brought together
due to the initiative of the Piera family, whose company carried out
street cleaning and refuse collection in the early 20th century.

Joan Miro Foundation |
The Joan Miro Foundation (Centre for Contemporary Art Studies) opened
to the public in 1975 and has been a constant reference point in the
city's cultural life ever since. It houses the permanent collection
of works by Miro, an artist who was able to create his own poetic
universe and experimented with different genres : painting, sculpture,
ceramics, graphic art, etc. The gleaming white building was designed
by Miro's great friend, the architect Josep Lluis Sert, who created
a structure with a markedly Mediterranean character. |
