The Jardi Botanic de Barcelona takes us on an interesting and relaxing
walk. On a gentle slope in Montjuic Park, we can discover the vegetation
from the five regions of the world with a Mediterranean climate: the
Mediterranean Basin, California, Chile, South Africa and Australia.
We can also see the subtropical vegetation of the Canary Islands which
was the precursor of Mediterranean plant life in the evolutionary
chain. The species are grouped together in a recreation of their natural
ecosystems within the framework of an institution which not only disseminates
knowledge about plants, but plays a useful role in the research carried
out by the Institut Botanic in favour of biodiversity. OPENING
